“To get some points on the board is in many respects harm limitation, but we can also draw encouragement,” explained Horner. “We were fairly aggressive at the end of the race there, notably with Daniel, but it is a not insignificant gap that we’;ve got to near to the Mercs.
“I consider in clean air we could run at a sensible pace. The difficulty that we’;ve acquired is when we get into the DRS we just never have the straightline velocity to make a passing move, and then you finish up in a bit of a mess. I feel that certainly that last stint, the way we planned it, worked out very nicely, obtaining rid of the primes on Seb’;s very first stint and Dan’;s middle stint to be in sensible form at the end.”
Horner was satisfied that when they were on distinct tires, Vettel responded to crew orders to allow his teammate previous.
“That was teamwork as it ought to be,” Horner explained. “Both had been on distinct approaches, it was something that we talked about prior to the race. Each have been absolutely cooperative in which they worked collectively. Sebastian mentioned I’;ll let him via at flip 11, sacrificing as minor pace as possible, leaving Daniel to get on with his race. Of program, it switched through the pit stops back once more, and then they had been free of charge to race over the last sector of the race.”
