NHTSA closes probe into fuel method on one.6 million Ford models

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — Federal safety investigators on Tuesday closed an investigation that could have led to a recall of about 1.6 million Ford Motor Co. sedans and crossovers.

The Nationwide Highway Targeted traffic Safety Administration investigated Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan sedans and Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner crossovers from model many years 2009 to 2013 soon after obtaining reports of attainable fuel system difficulties that could result in a sudden loss of engine energy.
