Bahrain Worldwide Circuit is renaming its initial corner soon after Michael Schumacher as component of the venue’;s 10th anniversary celebrations.

The circuit notes that he “was straight concerned in the early phases of the BIC’;s advancement, giving his own input into the design of the track, including the layout of flip one.”

Circuit chairman Zayed Al Zayani mentioned: “With the help of his family, it is a great privilege to be in a position to honor arguably the greatest racing driver in the history of F1 and someone who the people of Bahrain hold near to their hearts. From his 1st visual appeal at the BIC in 2004, he right away grew to become an inspiration for all these who enjoy motorsport in the Kingdom and it is as a result normal for us to acknowledge him in this way. The crew at the BIC continues to offer Michael and his family members its greatest wishes.”

Schumacher spokesperson Sabine Kehm, speaking on behalf of the Schumacher family members, stated: “Michael’;s family members would like to thank the Bahrain International Circuit for this gesture, acknowledging Michael’;s achievements in Formula 1 and interest in the BIC circuit design. We consider it as a recognition for his passion for motorsport. I am convinced Michael will adore the concept and come to feel really honored about possessing a BIC corner named after him.”

Meanwhile, Sunday marks the starting of the 10th week of Schumacher’;s medically induced coma following a skiing accident in the French Alps on Dec. 29.
